Description
What Is Venetiz?
Venetiz is a cancer medicine used to treat adults with a blood cancer known as chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL). It is used either in combination with other cancer medicines or on its own.
How Venetiz Works?
To be taken by mouth once per day with a meal. the starting dose is 20mg daily and the dose is gradually increased over 5 weeks to 400 mg daily. It is then continued at a dose of 400 mg daily, and the length of treatment depends on which medicine it is given. When given alone, Venetiz is given for as long as treatment continues to work. The dose may need to be reduced or treatment interrupted or stopped if certain side effects occur.
How To Take Venetiz?
Attached to a protein called Bcl-2. This protein is present in high amounts in CLL cancer cells, where it helps the cells survive for longer in the body and makes them resistant to cancer medicines. By attaching to Bcl-2 and clocking its actions, venetoclax causes the death of cancer cells and thereby slows down the progression of the disease.
